Experience is the Hinderance!!

Many a times, we wish we had more experience to get a better pay or better status etc., but today I undergone a counter example of 'experience' playing a spoilsport.

It was a great day with lot of time spent watching youtube videos and ted talks online during office hours :). I had finished my releases toiling the night before and was in no mood to work today.
Many of my personal tasks were done, which on any other day will occupy the least priority given the work load I handle.
Played a series of Fooseball game and won most of them.

Overall had a very great day and it ended almost great!

I finished my last fooseball game and rushed to catch cab at 7PM. Most of our cab was full except two seats - one beside me and one somewhere in the back. There was this cute girl, who looked amazing btw, came into the cab. Fortunately she took the seat next to me.  :)
I was listening to Radio before she boarded. I slowly unplugged the earphones from my mobile phone as she took the seat. It so happened that I knew this girl before and  I met her in a Team outing.

I being a social person, initiated the talk with a "Hi". She responded back and we started conversing.
She reminded where we met and I ,as if don't remember, was pretending to have hard time recollecting her :)

I asked about her college etc ( she joined as a fresher btw) and then came this question out of no where - How much experience you have? :)
Normally I would not mind to answer this question to any boy, but this girl being a fresher I was a bit reluctant. I jokingly said - This is not a question one should ask, hinting my inconvenience.

I asked why you want to know that and she replied "to find the relatedness". :)
I thought to myself - "If you want to relate to me, you can ask infinite question but why the one parts me away from you :P

I replied with my actual experience and told that I will be a super senior to you.

There was a bit chemistry in air and some uncomfortableness in her before asking this question. And once i answered her, she became very relaxed as if no threat from me ( If you know what I mean :D ) and the discussion went in a totally useless way from my perspective.

I wished at that point that I would have had less experience or I would have lied!!

Experience is making me lose.
Hope I still have chance with this gorgeous girl. :)

Sports and Games

These are wonderful threads to connect a nation together. Just recall any day of India –Pakistan match. People would love those games not because they are games, but because the excitement around them. I am sure the fathers of the games, had put in lot of thought in to design, implement and encourage these games for they also serve the purpose of integrating a nation.

The Joy brought with these games is amazing. People love a breath-taking match than a mere one side game. Any game whose result you can predict become a just a count in some team’s win/lose list.

Remember the Mexican waves that storm in the stadiums, believe me, it is a lot more fun being a part of that than just watching it over a TV sitting on your couch and munching some junk potatoes.

I recall the awesome final of India Pakistan T20 world cup match. It was really amazing.
People were out on streets and dancing, literally!
I don’t see any other occasion or event that can bring in this kind of oneness in a nation.

Long Live Sports & Games.

Long Live Sports personnel.

And,

Long Live the Spirit!

Dreams are just to dream about ?

Why do we dream ?
Is it just to make ourselves happy that we dream about something or  someone ?..
Is it everything to it ?
Are we showing our back to our dreams when there is a hurdle or difficulty?
Is it time to give up, when you could not achieve your dream with in the time frame which you/someone places?

I am at juncture of leaving my dream/goal and was about to seek complacency. I was also re-thinking on my goal and trying to change the path. But one thing I realize that this will pinch me in future for my inefficiency or incompetency or lack of perseverance ( donno what it is .. need to figure out the same ) to achieve my dream.

I see two different categories to it...

  1. Dreaming about someone
    • Which you don't have full control over achieving it
  2. Dreaming about something
    • This would be like to achieve some status, thing, position or say your fitness
    • Achieving this depends only on self

I have encountered first one long back. You call it silly crush or some infatuation. Yeah.. I had one like everyone else would.I tried to persuade her by all means just to realize that it is the wrong person I was after. I couldn't do any thing more about it. Like someone great said.. "If you don't like me, it's not my problem". Now I  am out of it and dream about it no more.

But what about the second scenario?
As achieving this type of dream depends solely on oneself, the former analysis doesn't hold water.
If success evades you it only means try more harder!, which I forgot for a moment.
I was at the verge of leaving one of my dream.I have this wonderful friend who reminded me my passion I had earlier to achieve it. (Friends are wonderful creatures who makes you laugh, motivates you and support you in adversities. Thanks a lot dude! )
Now it is time to rekindle it and take it to the end of the road.

I don't want to be a loser who left the battle field with out fighting.
Yeah bring me more dude.. I am still on field.. ready to fight !

Impulsiveness

I was watching Bollywood movie "Turning 30" couple of days back and what stuck me from the movie is the impulsiveness of the lady protagonist She will act impulsively when her b/f lefts her and she will be desperate to make him comeback into her life. After all the effort she makes towards it and the pain she undergoes, she finally realizes he is already left from her life and then acts wisely.

This made me to think on how many times we act impulsively in our lives and the result of those actions. It is easy to say to contain them  than to do. There will be many instances in life where we act so.

I saw this with replying to some emails. It is difficult to control the tone of emails when replied immediately during conflicts. When you feed your impulsiveness to react to these emails, the rapport between teams/colleagues deteriorates. Yeah, its always wise to delay,  replying to such emails, but what can be done if the situation arises when you are talking to others. You have to reply back immediately ? Most of  the times yes, and cannot be avoided, but should be handled professionally.
This is one of the things i am learning these days. During the course of any professional life, I believe the initial part is learning work/Technical stuff. Later on the situation is mostly depends on the inter-personal, communication skills and etiquette which depends on how you act impulsively.

Does this impulsive behavior defines our overall personality?
If you are an electronic student, your impulses says yes. From the science of electronics, any behavior of a system depends on the impulse response and the behavior of the system to any other stimulus can be told accurately. If you cut the crap of science, coz we are not some predictable electronic system, but yeah we should watch out our actions!

Recession is fading out :)

Recession- This term literally shook every employee in the world. Many had a nightmare (including me :P)  about losing their job because of the worst recession that hit the world.I am not fully aware of what the subprime crisis is, who is the mother of the monster, but one thing I know is it had a vandalizing effect .Many of the banks shut down, many companies closed and many acquisitions taken place.
To me it altered the general employee benefits such as transport service, cafeteria and importantly Hikes and Promotions. The companies took up these steps, saying that these are vital steps to withstand the monster which I believe is only a half-truth.Typically companies love to reduce their operating cost by cutting the employee benefits.
After about an year, I am hearing some good news that the recession is fading out. I am still awaiting this positive wave to hit me.Companies are not so active in restoring the benefits as they were in cutting down.
The result is the increased attrition rate :)
Unless the attrition is showed up in your company, it will not bother to provide hikes and promotions and restore the pre-recession conditions.
Infosys has taken up the corrective measures in the wake of increased attrition rate in the company and trying to woo the employees now.I am waiting for my company to recognize it before I switch over to some other company :)

Signing off,
Vish :)
